A World Without Technology: A Blessing or a Curse?

People in this day and age have grown to become uncontrollably dependent on technology. From scrolling through reels the minute we wake up. To video calling a loved one right before bed. But here's the thing, just how safe is modern day technology and is it a blessing or a curse? Let me tell u a little about myself facing a situation like this.

A 16-year-old boy who spends all his time playing video games and chatting online with his friends. Without technology, he'd have to face the real world, talk to his family, and the worst of all is exploring the outside world. His life was simple , wake up, game, eat while gaming, scroll the internet, and sleep but after gaming for a little while more. His parents often complain that he lived in the world of fantasy  but honestly  he didn’t care. As long as there is  Wi-Fi , gaming set ,  headset and life was  flowing well . It was until the world gave him away.

It all happened overnight. He woke up while stretching as he reached for his phone. Nothing? The screen was black. He tried turning it on , no response? Weird. He got out of bed to turn on his laptop. Also dead? Even his gaming set , his lifeline entertainment refused to wake up. Dashing  up towards his mom while to the tone of voice increasing saying that the Wi-Fi is out. Mom with a giggle said that its not only out , its no more , all technology is gone .He hesitated not believing it and complained that it just has to be charged nothing else, right ? With a lot of fear .His dad on the other side with a side note, "No, son". The technology  is out everywhere. Phones, TV's, internet, electricity all ,poof, GONE. Nobody knows why!

Reality set in. No gaming? No endless games or arguing with strangers online? An actual unbeatable situation. He needed a breath out.

Hemmesh threw on some clothes and stepped outside. The world was…diff...different. The usual sounds of gaming , phone notifications were replaced by birds chirping and ugh of course , people talking. People yelling across the street like the town was crying. Luckily it wasn't only me but down the street, teenagers looked equally lost. No one had headphones on and all with direct eye contact.
This is a nightmare!

It doesn't stop there, at school, chaos dominated. Without digital clocks, students had no idea what time it was. The teachers on the other hand relied on slides also stood awkwardly during  classes, forced to use a marker. Lunchtime was even worse as nobody was staring at their phones playing games meanwhile  they were staring at each other unknowing of what to do . Conversations had to be held the old fashion way . It was definitely an awkward moment. He decided to test this abnormal theory. After school, he took his bike and rode around town. Without GPS, he had to rely on something horrifying which is his memory. Eventually, he ended up at a park where kids were playing tag, adults were reading books, and a group of teenagers was playing football. It was weirdly fun looking. He sat on a bench, watching. A random person from school, Erica, waved at him asking if he wanted  to join?
As usual he hesitated. Normally, he would say no and rush his way back  to his gaming setup but without any choice as if fantasy gaming life pixelated away from his life. He forcefully agreed it wanting to give a shot. Surprisingly, he spent the next hour playing, laughing, actually enjoying himself. It was exhausting for the first time but sure, but it felt real good.

By the time he got home, he was smiling. His parents looked at him, surprised. Curiosity occurs and questions was being asked , he was shocked yet excited to tell what happened . In three words the parents ended the conversation by saving that " THIS-IS-REALITTY" . As the days passed, he found himself adjusting to the surroundings . He played board games with his family, met up with friends, and even picked up books to read .It wasn’t the same as gaming, but it wasn’t bad. In fact, it started becoming addictive.

Weeks later, the power suddenly returned as phones buzzed back to life , digital world was restored. He rushed to his laptop, ready to log back in. As soon as he sat there, fingers shaking against the keyboard, he hesitated. Instead, he grabbed his bike and headed to the park. Maybe, just maybe, he didn’t need to spend all his time behind a screen after all. To conclude , this is a life of me, myself, I. Maybe the real world wasn’t so bad after all.
